Meet the Team

Associate Director, Digital Research Services:

Clare leads the strategic development of the University's research IT services and capabilities. She collaborates across the University with academic and Professional Services colleagues to understand needs and goals, develop business cases and maintain oversight of our projects and operations through effective governance.

Platform Owner:

Leo leads the team, overseeing operational delivery and service development, including providing strategic leadership as a member of the University’s Research IT Committee, the Research Data Management Steering Group, and the Change Advisory Board. He has broad experience across research IT infrastructure, private cloud technologies and the administration of IT systems at scale.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer: Simon Davis

Simon has over two decades' experience provisioning, administering and supporting data storage and file system services for researchers, working both in academic departments and in ITS. As well as acting as storage lead within the team, he has broad skills and expertise across systems and network administration. Simon worked on the CLUSTER and Double Star space science missions for 11 years as part of the AIV, launch, commissioning and operations team.

Systems Engineer: Reese Wilkinson

Reese has a research background in astronomy and data science consultancy. He works primarily with the Artemis hybrid research cluster, acting as lead for the Open OnDemand/Slurm HPC Cluster. Other responsibilities include development of cloud applications, running user training and workshops, orchestration of cloud infrastructure and providing expert advice for research grant applications.

Systems Engineer:

Haruna specialises in cloud infrastructure, virtualisation, software-defined data centre networking and systems administration. He provides support in managing the Artemis HPC cluster and plays a lead role in administering the University’s GridPP infrastructure. With a research background in emerging networks, edge/cloud computing, and enterprise solution design, Haruna works across activities including expansion of the Artemis HPC system and research data infrastructure initiatives.

Systems Engineer: Benjamin Donnachie

Benjamin has a background in industry and consulting. He previously lectured on information security, digital forensics, and MSc research modules at the Open University and is currently completing research into the use of AI for cybercrime detection. His technical interests include optimising code for massively parallel systems and GPUs. Benjamin helps ensure the smooth operation of Artemis, supports our ATLAS experiment commitments to CERN, and assists non-computing researchers to maximise their use of our infrastructure.

Systems Analyst: Luke Ingerson

Luke has over two decades’ experience in IT systems and operations across a broad range of service areas from frontline support to systems administration.  He leads the team response to incoming user queries and triaging of service requests, creation of user accounts, managing file and access permissions, amongst many other duties.
