Conflict, Peace, and the Places in Between (029IRS)

30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)

Spring teaching

Studies in International Relations have often focused on war and peace between great powers.

But what about other armed conflicts, ‘small wars’, insurgencies, or civil wars? What about areas where non-state armed groups control territory and people - sometimes working alongside the state?

Although wars between states are now rare, these forms of conflict and insecurity still shape much of the world.

On this module, you’ll explore their causes, dynamics and the international attempts to respond to them.
