Autumn and spring teaching

Through a practical placement and workshops, you’ll learn the knowledge, skills and values for social work practice. Placements include a range of settings, from private to independent, with a wide range of clients.

Throughout the module, you’ll:

  • gain practical experience of service users and carers
  • understand their different needs in different settings
  • practice within policies, structures and processes
  • perform the requirements of social work legislation
  • have regular guidance from a designated Practice Educator (a qualified Social Worker)
  • reflect on practice, link this with theory 
  • practice independently, identifying when to ask for advice 
  • receive regular feedback on your performance.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2025/26.
