Living Well: Modes of Self-Focus
Module C8852
Module details for 2022/23.
15 credits
FHEQ Level 6
Module Outline
This module approaches psychological wholeness and division through the relation between affect and cognition. Central is theory which distinguishes experiential from conceptual modes of self-focus. Consider the suggestion that we dwell in ideas and life’s outer layers. Yet affection can unfold from deeper (holistic) levels of meaning. What do we know about this level of being in having-oriented cultures? Our themes may include intersubjectivity and interiority; rhythmic conversationally grounded self-experience of vitality affects within the relational implicit; despair and beauty arising from emotional rupture and repair of the resonant intersubjective field. This will be enlivened by dialogue on questions of living.
