Module Outline

This course is designed to follow the first Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Depression module providing the knowledge and skills necessary to work with more complex presentations associated with depression.

By the end of the module, students will have developed knowledge and skills in using cognitive therapy and behavioural activation with people suffering from, depression within the context of low self esteem, chronic and recurrent depression, depression and suicide, depression and chronic fatigue, depression within the context of chronic pain.

Module learning outcomes

Demonstrate competence for delivery of cognitive behavioural assessment, formulation and intervention in more complex presentations of depression that include transdiagnostic presentations, chronic and recurrent depression, depression and chronic fatigue, depression within the context of chronic pain.

Demonstrate a systematic understanding of, and critical awareness of the theory and evidence base of more complex presentations of depression that include transdiagnostic presentations, chronic and recurrent depression, depression and chronic fatigue, depression within the context of chronic pain.

Demonstrate an originality and reflective practice in the application of cognitive behavioural therapy for more complex presentations of depression that include transdiagnostic presentations, chronic and recurrent depression, depression and chronic fatigue, depression within the context of chronic pain.
