Module Outline
The module will cover:
Confidentiality & gaining consent; engaging harder to reach CYP/families; engaging LGBT+, CIC & BME populations; developing therapeutic relationships with families/carers alongside CYP. Recognising wider issues (substance misuse; self-harm; learning disabilities; attentional difficulties; bullying; trauma). Collaborative risk formulation & management; managing risk to practitioners. Referral & suitability for EMHP assessment; suitability for low-intensity CB interventions; giving evidence-based information as part of collaborative care-planning; managing onward referral. Managing a caseload; care planning & co-ordination; co-production. Managing roadblocks & ruptures with CYP, families/carers and colleagues.
Module learning outcomes
Demonstrate knowledge and competence in recognising, assessing, formulating and developing management plans around risk to, or from, young people.
Demonstrate knowledge and competence in providing evidence-based information to support collaborative care planning with young people, their families and staff in education settings.
Demonstrate a systematic understanding and critical awareness of the barriers some young people experience in accessing mental health support, and how these might be overcome.
Demonstrate knowledge and competence in recognising and making onward referral of wider mental health and learning issues.
