Module Outline
This module is designed to follow CBT for Anxiety providing the knowledge and skills necessary to work with more complex presentations associated with anxiety.
By the end of the module, students will have developed knowledge and skills in working with people suffering from more complex anxiety conditions that include: Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), Panic with agoraphobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD): belief domains, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD): Borkovec model and Zinbarg, Craske and Barlow model, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Foa & Rothbaum model, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Model and Health Anxiety (HA). Students will learn evidence based interventions using behavioural and cognitive methods to help reduce factors that contribute to the maintenance of these complex difficulties.
Module learning outcomes
Demonstrate competence for delivery of cognitive behavioural assessment, formulation and intervention in complex anxiety difficulties that include; Social Anxiety Disorder (Heimberg model), Panic with agoraphobia Craske & Barlow model), GAD (Zinbarg, Craske and Barlow model), PTSD (Foa & Rothbaum model), Health Anxiety and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
Demonstrate a systematic understanding of, and critical awareness of the theory and evidence base of Social Anxiety Disorder (Heimberg model), Panic with agoraphobia (Craske & Barlow model), GAD (Zinbarg, Craske and Barlow model), PTSD (Foa & Rothbaum model), Health Anxiety and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
Demonstrate an originality and reflective practice in the application of cognitive behavioural therapy for Social Anxiety Disorder (Heimberg model), Panic with agoraphobia Craske & Barlow model), GAD (Zinbarg, Craske and Barlow model), PTSD (Foa & Rothbaum model), Health Anxiety and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
