Module Outline
This module addresses the role that psychological research can play in understanding and supporting children’s mental health. Workshops will introduce material on broad theoretical perspectives concerning aetiology, maintenance, and treatment of mental health issues. Students will be introduced to current issues and controversies in child mental health and will have the opportunity to reflect on these and discuss with one another in the workshops. Throughout the module, students will be encouraged to consider the implications of psychological research for designing and implementing practical strategies to support children’s mental health.

This module addresses the role that psychological research can play in understanding and supporting children’s mental health. Workshops will introduce material on broad theoretical perspectives concerning aetiology, maintenance, and treatment of mental health issues. Students will be introduced to current issues and controversies in child mental health and will have the opportunity to reflect on these and discuss with one another in the workshops. Throughout the module, students will be encouraged to consider the implications of psychological research for designing and implementing practical strategies to support children’s mental health.
