Full Module Description

What is it that makes a ‘good’ childhood? In this module students discover what psychological research can tell us about what makes a good physical, social, and enriching environment for children to live, play, and learn in. In workshops students will discover the central theories underpinning child development in these areas gain a deeper insight into how developmental research can inform child spaces, including those not commonly thought of such as industry and the arts, as well as ‘traditional’ settings such as education and family.

Demonstrate critical awareness of current debates and theories in developmental psychology

Develop a comprehensive understanding of developmental research methods and critically evaluate methodologies as appropriate

Understand how psychological research in developmental psychology can inform practice across a wide range of child centred spaces
