Module Outline

Students will gain in depth knowledge and understanding of the local barriers to accessing mental health services and the impact of intersectionality on mental health. They will also learn about local projects and services that aim specifically to break down barriers and provide access to MH services for CYP.

Full Module Description

Students will gain in depth knowledge and understanding of the local barriers to accessing mental health services and the impact of intersectionality on mental health. They will also learn about local projects and services that aim specifically to break down barriers and provide access to MH services for CYP.

Module learning outcomes

Demonstrate a systematic understanding and critical awareness of learning problems in CYP: including dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia and their impact on mental health.

Demonstrate a systematic understanding and critical awareness of the challenges that local communities face in supporting the well-being of their children and young people.

Demonstrate a systematic understanding and critical awareness steps being taken by local community organizations to help their children and young people reduce the risks of low well-being and to provide opportunities for them to increase their well-being.

Demonstrate a systematic understanding and critical awareness of how to work with local communities to co-produce aims and strategies for increasing opportunities of well-being for local children, families and young people.
