Module Outline
Drawing on research in general psychology, this module considers how teams and organizations work. Social psychological theories will be applied to understand how organisational change, development, culture and climate are influenced by – and influence –contemporary concerns relating to group processes within and across global and structural boundaries. The learning is achieved via a series of workshops (comprising lecturing and interactive activities). The aim is to create a friendly, participative and inclusive learning environment including a range of diverse learning activities. In addition to knowledge generation this approach will enable learners to develop transferable skills essential for success at both university and in the world of work: personal confidence, teamwork & collaboration, self-management and independent learning.

Module learning outcomes
Develop a critical understanding of the key social psychological theories relating to group processes, as applied to the configuration of organizational change, culture, communication and teamwork in contemporary, global work.
Undertake theoretically-driven evaluations of organizational and group structures and processes, using appropriate, state-of-the-art approaches to consider how social psychological theory can help to inform applied practice (with a focus on promoting organizational effectiveness, productivity and performance).
Identify and critique contemporary issues surrounding the organization of groups within and across organizational and team structures to consider ethical and professional implications for individuals and wider society.
Consider and reflect on real-world issues associated with organizational and group processes in order to plan and execute an appropriate client-focused and ethical response.
