Module Outline

This module is designed to follow the first Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for anxiety module providing knowledge and skills of further models available to support working with anxiety disorders.

By the end of the module, students will have developed knowledge and skills in: CBT for Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic with agoraphobia, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Health Anxiety and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Throughout the module, students will gain a detailed understanding of assessment, formulation and treatment strategies as applied to individuals with these presenting difficulties. Each session will include thoeretical teaching which will provide students with an overview of the topic area. Knowledge and skills will then be grounded and consolidated through individual and small group excercises, modelling and rehearsal using case examples.

Module learning outcomes

Demonstrate competence for delivery of cognitive behavioural assessment, formulation and intervention in more complex anxiety presentations of Social Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobia, Panic, GAD, PTSD/CPTSD and Health Anxiety and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Demonstrate a systematic understanding of, and critical awareness of the theory and evidence base of more complex anxiety presentations of Social Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobia, Panic, GAD, PTSD/CPTSD and Health Anxiety and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Demonstrate an originality and reflective practice in the application of cognitive behavioural therapy for more complex anxiety presentations of Social Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobia, Panic, GAD, PTSD/CPTSD and Health Anxiety and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
