Module Outline

This module addresses the role that psychological research can play in understanding and supporting educational processes. Workshops will introduce material on broad theoretical perspectives concerning children’s learning as well as specific challenges to learning and aspects of children’s academic development across different stages of schooling. Students will be introduced to current issues and controversies in education and will have the opportunity to reflect on these and discuss with one another in the workshops. Throughout the module, students will be encouraged to consider the implications of psychological research for designing and implementing practical strategies to support learning and socio-emotional development in the educational context.

Full Module Description

This module addresses the role that psychological research can play in understanding and supporting educational processes. Workshops will introduce material on broad theoretical perspectives concerning children’s learning as well as specific challenges to learning and aspects of children’s academic development across different stages of schooling. Students will be introduced to current issues and controversies in education and will have the opportunity to reflect on these and discuss with one another in the workshops.
